PV-100 is a handheld and automated ultrasound inspection system. R/D Tech has invented the PV-100 AUT (automated ultrasonic testing) system to provide you with the means to inspect your pressure vessel welds according to the ASME code at a price that is sure to make you change your mind about the costs of ultrasonic testing. The system is portable and can be put to work virtually anywhere. The perfect combination of acquisition unit, scanner, and software makes the inspection of pressure vessel welds an easy task.
The acquisition unit offers between 2 and 8 channels, which allows the PV-100 to use two inspection techniques simultaneously. The combination of time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) and pulse-echo techniques means that the complete inspection is done in a single scan, tremendously reducing the inspection time compared to conventional raster scanning or radiography. As for the inspection results, they are available instantaneously; thus allowing you to spot a problem with the welding equipment and fix it right away.
R/D Tech has made use of the phased-array technology to put together the most versatile automated system for pressure vessel weld inspection available. The PV-200 AUT (automated ultrasonic testing) system combines Phased Array and TOFD techniques to achieve greater inspection thoroughness than is required by the basic ASME code. The phased-array technology allows the scanner to adapt to different weld inspection without changing the probe position. This dramatically reduces setup time and eliminates many of the mechanical components needed with conventional ultrasound probes. Fewer mechanical parts means fewer mechanical failures.
The PV-200 inspection system comes complete with an acquisition unit, a scanner, and software tailored to suit your needs. The acquisition unit controls all the multielement-probe channels. The software is equipped with a dedicated calculator to guide the operator in changing beam angle, depth, and focus without moving the probe. You can see the exact depth of any defect because the software not only shows you the defect from the top of the weld, just like radiography, but also shows it from the side and from the end.
R/D Tech PipeWIZARD is Phased Array automatic system for pipeline construction welding inspection system suitable for diameter 2 – 56”.
Gas pipelines are made of high-strength steel and operate at a significant percentage of yield strength. Pipes are girth-welded on site, typically using automated welding. Then, they are rapidly inspected, coated, and buried. Due to the demanding construction cycle, it is important that any defect in the welds be detected and analyzed very quickly.
There are a number of specific constraints related to the construction cycle:
R/D Tech manufactures various scanners for welding inspection suitable for flat plate as well as pipe from diameter as small as 2”. RD Tech scanners are designed to accommodate from 2 probes to 8 probes for combined Pulse-Echo and TOFD or combined Phased Array and TOFD.
